CASTROL Anvol WG 46

Description Castrol Anvol WG is a range of fire resistant fluids, consisting of blends of water, glycol and polymeric lubricity together with thickening agents and additives. These fluids offer corrosion protection and are true solutions, which are therefore inherently stable. Applications The Castrol Anvol WG lubricants are high performance hydraulic fluids and circulating oils for use where potential fire risks exists, for instance:

• in die casting machines;

• hydraulic forging presses;

• hydraulic systems on smelting furnaces; and

• hydraulic systems in mining applications. General Water can be lost from fluids by evaporation, especially where bulk fluid temperatures are high. This water must be replaced to maintain the correct viscosity and optimum resistance. In addition to water content, the pH of the fluid should be checked occasionally since this gives an indication of he level of certain additives. This can be conveniently carried out by the use of universal pH indicator papers in the absence of a suitable instrument. Fresh Castrol Anvol WG fluids are normally around 9.0 on a pH scale. This will fall with use, and when below 8.0, a representative sample should be sent to the nearest Castrol laboratory for examination. Viscosity checks on Castrol Anvol WG fluids should initially be made every two to four weeks. Normally it is found that water losses are negligible and subsequent checks can be made at less frequent intervals. Samples should be taken from the full flow part of the system, such as the return of the reservoir. For adjustments to water content in the fluid, please refer to your nearest Castrol Technical Department.
