Description
Castrol Syntilo 500 is an extreme-pressure, high-performance, biostable soluble oil. It offers long life, low
maintenance and high resistance from bacterial attack and therefore can overcome the problems sometimes
associated with conventional engineering fluids.
Applications
• For general machining duties, including grinding operations for which it is widely employed.
• Suitable for a wide range of metals, both ferrous and non-ferrous and stainless steel, as well as ceramics.
Recommended Dilution's
Turning, Milling & Drilling: 1:20 - 1:40
Automatic Lathes: 1:10
High Speed CNC Machining: 1:20 - 1:40
Grinding: Surface, Centreless & Cylindrical: 1:50 - 1:70
Ceramic Materials: 1:60
Deep-Hole Drilling: 1:10 - 1:20
In general non-ferrous alloys can be machined with identical dilutions, though certain aluminum alloys may
require a more concentrated emulsion.
Advantages
Castrol Syntilo 500 is a high-performance, biostable soluble oil, which can be used for virtually all machining
operations encompassing a wide range of materials.
• Long emulsion life.
• Less coolant maintenance.
• Fewer disposal problems.
Safe and pleasant to work with.
• Reduced overall cost.
• Due to its versatility, Castrol Syntilo 500 represents an ideal choice for rationalization as the main soluble oil in
medium-sized machine shops, or where large centralized coolant system is in use.
• Rejects Tramp Oil.
PRECAUTIONS: Store under cover away from elements such as frost.

The broad ranging suitability of Castrol Syntilo 500 is seen in its successful application to tooling operations as
diverse as turning on multi-tool and automatic lathes, drilling, reaming, profiling, milling, threading with preformed
cutters and grinding by surface, cylindrical, centreless and creep feed techniques.
Materials successfully cut or ground with Castrol Syntilo 500 emulsions include: cast iron, most non-alloyed
steels, non-ferrous metals such as brass, bronze and aluminum and in grinding operations on nickel, chrome
and stainless steels, nimonic alloys and ceramics materials.
Free of nitrites and phenols.
• Biocide additions eliminated.
