Description
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils are produced from a
proprietary blend of mineral oil and synthetic ester fluid, plus advanced
additives. They provide excellent lubricity and antiwear protection for the
improved service life of: flooded rotary compressor air ends; reciprocating
compressor piston rings, rider bands and crankcase components; drip feed
rotary compressor vanes and bearings.
Exceptional oxidation resistance minimizes varnish and carbonaceous residues
on compressor components and in gas passages, innercoolers, aftercoolers,
etc. The natural inherent solvency of Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend
Compressor Oils reduces the potential of ingested contaminant buildup and
oxidation by-products in oil sumps and oil piping.
Superior rust, corrosion, and antifoam protection is provided for optimum
compressor performance under severe operating conditions throughout
extended oil drain cycles. A high resistance to sludging helps maximize the
service life of flooded rotary compressor air/oil separators.
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils possess a moderately
high viscosity index. Therefore, the same grade of product may be used over a
broader operating temperature range than conventional mineral oil or ester
based compressor lubricants. Consult your local Castrol Performance
Lubricants’ sales/engineering office for specific viscosity grade
recommendations.
Usage
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils are designed for use
in most makes of flooded and drip feed rotary compressors, as well as noncrosshead and drip feed reciprocating compressors.
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils may be used to
lubricate axial flow, barrel type and integral gear driven centrifugal compressors,
where extended oil drain cycles and improved mechanical component life is
desired.
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils may be used in
numerous non-compressor applications. For example, they are excellent in
bearings or enclosed gear drives that require the use of non-EP oils. Contact
your local Castrol Performance Lubricants’ sales/engineering office when
considering the use of these products in non-compressor applications.
Advantages
In Flooded Rotary Compressors - Lower volatility than straight mineral oils
means reduced oil carryover, improved air/oil separator efficiency, and reduced
oil consumption. Superior oxidation resistance and natural solvency reduces
air/oil separator maintenance, inhibits sediment buildup and the formation of
varnish residues.
In Drip Feed Reciprocating and Rotary Compressors - Formation and
buildup of varnish and carbon deposits are reduced to minimize valve sticking
and wear. In combination with improved piston ring sealing, the resultant
reduction in recompression can measurably improve compressor safety and
efficiency.
In Centrifugal Compressors - Higher viscosity at operating temperature
increases lubricant film thickness, thus improving the service life of critical
mechanical components such as bearings and gears. Superior oxidation
resistance retards the formation of varnish residues, and when used in
conjunction with a MAPPS™ scheduled oil-monitoring program, significant
extensions of oil drain intervals are possible.
Notes
Castrol Tribol 1750 Synthetic Blend Compressor Oils are compatible with
mineral oils and many synthetic compressor oils. However, as with any
changeover to a different lubricant, follow thorough flush and drain procedures
to minimize the contamination and early degradation of the new product.
