Explanation
Castrol Braycote ™ 631 RP is a smooth, buttery, off-white NLGI # 2 lubricant based on perfluoroether oil. This oil
it is fireproof and chemically inert in general. Thermally stable alone or in the presence of oxygen,
it has extremely low volatility and little tendency to generate deposits. In addition Braycote 631 RP exhibits excellent
lubrication properties, good dielectric properties and shear stability. Castrol Fluoroclean ™ X100 and Castrol
Fluoroclean ™ can be used to remove this lubricant. For information about these products, see their data sheets.
Application
Braycote 631 RP is designed for static or dynamic service in the presence of fuels and oxidizers. This has been used
as Gears, ball and roller bearings, electrical contacts and tooth and elastomer sealant. It is especially useful as a
lubricant in abrasive or oxygen (LOX/Gox) service and as a plug valve lubricant. Compatible with this product
concentrated acids and bases and will not hydrolyze or oxidize. Perfluorinated greases such as Braycote 631 RP,
they exhibit excellent shelf life due to their inertness.
Additional Information
Temperature
December-54ºC to 204ºc (- 65ºF to 400ºf)
Limitations
Braycote 631 RP is only slightly soluble or insoluble in most fuels and oxidizers available in propellant service, and in most cases.
materials other than organic solvents and fluorinated solvents. Compatible at Normal operating temperatures
traditional metals, plastics and elastomers. Braycote 631 RP may be negatively affected by Lewis acids, e.g.
aluminum chloride at high temperatures. Newly exposed friction surfaces of aluminum, magnesium or titanium
alloys can react with Braycote 631 RP under certain conditions. Such systems should be thoroughly evaluated. Surface
it should be well cleaned from organic rust inhibitors before applying grease to ensure proper lubrication. This product is not
recommended for use in applications under vacuum and at loads exceeding 100,000 psi for a long time.
Packaging
Braycote 631RP is packaged in 2 oz (AVDP) disposable syringes, 1 lb plastic containers, 1.75 lb cartridge and 45 lb bucket.
