Castrol Iloquench Nº 9 is a mineral oil based accelerated quench oil.
Application
Castrol Iloquench Nº 9 is for use where maximum hardness with minimum distortion is required. It therefore meets the trend towards more complex components which, under normal quenching conditions, would suffer distortion.
Castrol Iloquench Nº 9 is additive treated to provide an accelerated quench from the austenitic range to the martensitic condition. Special consideration was also given during development, to various properties such as low volatility - avoiding excessive thickening by loss of light fractions: low viscosity for rapid head dissipation, high
flash point to minimise fire hazard, and a high degree of thermal and oxidation stability.
Users generally find that Iloquench Nº 9 gives substantial improvement in product quality and increased throughput, so providing maximum economy in operation. Castrol Iloquench Nº 9 is widely used, especially where high throughput is vital, in the treatment of bearing rings in En31: various complex gears in SAE 8620A and En36: various gear transmission shafts in CM 80 and automotive transmission parts in SAE 8615: En39: En206: En207.
In short, wherever maximum hardness with minimum distortion is vital and especially where throughput is high.
