CASTROL SYNTILO 24

Description

Castrol Syntilo™ 24 is a synthetic grinding coolant which represents an important breakthrough in grinding coolant technology – especially with regard to the health and safety of the operator and the preservation of the environment. Free from all substances known or suspected of causing health or environmental problems, Syntilo

24 contains no mineral oil and furthermore, will not emulsify any mineral oil picked up in the coolant system. It is also Sodium Nitrite free and forms a crystal clear, almost colourless solution.

Application

Syntilo 24 is recommended for use with ferrous metals and high nickel and titanium alloys. It is not recommended for aluminium and aluminium alloys.

Syntilo 24 is recommended for all classes of grinding where cooling is the main task.

Advantages

• Fully synthetic grinding fluid – contains no mineral oil. There is no possibility of foaming and emulsion instability – prolongs life of coolant.

• Does not take up mineral oil – tramp oil simply floats oil top o the coolant and can be skimmed of.

• Exceptional resistance to bacteria : maintains low odour levels and allows long term trouble free performance.

• Maximum cooling action : minimizes grinding wheel wear, gives good surface finish and aids dimensional accuracy.

• Excellent corrosion prevention : prevents rusting even in very dilute solutions.

• Good sedimentation properties : quickly settles grinding debris and so avoids carry over and scratching of the work piece.

• Non-reactive to most materials : no adverse effect on the bounding components of the grinding wheel.

• No gumming – keeps the grinding wheel open and clean.

• Forms crystal clear solution for ease of viewing operations in progress.

• Solution stable even in extremely hard water (even up to 400 ppm as CA CO3)

• Does not contain nitrites, sulphurised or chlorinated additives which could cause disposal or health problems.

• Does no produce powdery deposits on drying. 

Additional Information

Syntilo 24 is classified as non hazardous according to the criteria of NOHSC. However in line with safe handling practices, it is recommended that the handling instructions outlined in the Castrol Material Safety

Data Sheet be followed.

Spillage: SMALL - 20 LITRES OR LESS

Soak up on Castrol Diatomaceous Earth or similar inert oil absorbent. Arrange for disposal

through an approved facility.

LARGE - GREATER THAN 20 LITRES

Contain as soon as possible, remove by best means available and arrange recycling (preferred) or disposal through an approved facility.

Disposal: New or used material must not be allowed to enter the ground, ground water, water courses, sewers or drainage systems. Advice may be sought from the Environmental Protection Authority

or from the local waste disposal authority
