BP Energol RD-E 100

Description

BP Energol RD-E oils are formulated to lubricate pneumatically powered rock drilling machines, as well as the rotation gears of hydraulically powered machines. Available in ISO viscosity grades 100 and 320.

The BP Energol RD-E range contains load carrying and tackiness additives to give excellent lubricating properties and provide a tenacious coating to protect against corrosion. In addition, they possess good emulsifying properties.

Application

The BP Energol RD-E range satisfy the requirements of the major manufacturers of pneumatically powered rock drilling machines, including all pneumatic rock-drill applications where the condensation of water required an emulsifying oil, however they may be used in applications where emulsification is not required.

They are suitable for use on hydraulically powered machines to provide a tenacious lubricating, anti-corrosion film on the rotation gears. Applications include tunnelling, bolting, deep hole drilling, drill and blast, hand held air-leg and multiboom “jumbos”.

Caution: There are certain known cases where combustion of lubricant has occurred in the air chamber of some types of percussive air tools. Castrol strongly recommends that users strictly follow the lubrication recommendations and guidelines provided by air tool manufacturers. If work is being conducted in areas where sources of ignition create a high level of risk (e.g. underground coal mining), it is recommended that full risk assessments be conducted to ensure appropriate tools and procedures are selected.

Storage

All packages should be stored under cover. Where outside storage is unavoidable drums should be laid horizontally to avoid the possible ingress of water and the obliteration of drum markings. Products should not be stored above 60°C, exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.
