Description

Castrol Syntrans Heavy Duty 75W-90 is a fully synthetic manual transmission lubricant developed for use in synchronised or non-synchronised transmissions. It is particularly recommended in long haul transport, B-double, road train and other severe duty applications. Castrol Syntrans Heavy Duty 75W-90 is approved against the Volvo

Transmission 97315 and 97319 specifications for extended drain use in severe duty, Volvo manufactured manual and automated manual (i Shift) transmissions.

Application

Castrol Syntrans Heavy Duty 75W-90 has proven to give excellent performance for up to 400,000 km oil drain intervals in manual transmission applications. It is our prime recommendation for Volvo, Eaton Roadranger®, Spicer and Meritor truck transmissions in both normal and severe duty conditions where SAE 50 lubricants are required. It may also be used in manual transmissions of passenger cars or light commercial vehicles where API GL-4 oils are recommended.

For ZF transmissions, our prime recommendation is Castrol Syntrans Z Long Life 75W-80.

Characteristics

Field experience with Castrol Syntrans Heavy Duty 75W-90 in Australia has demonstrated excellent performance in Volvo manual transmissions. Long haul operating conditions in Australia differ from most overseas operations. There are a higher proportion of engines above 450hp (335kW) operating on longer point-to-point routes, at higher speeds, as well as over rough roads. These conditions increase the stress on the drive train and the lubricant.

Castrol Syntrans Heavy Duty 75W-90 has demonstrated excellent gear set and bearing durability in field evaluation in Australia. In trials covering more than two million kilometres in Australia to obtain the Volvo approval, significant benefits in wear protection compared with typical competitor products were demonstrated. This along with excellent oxidation control resulted in the transmission being in excellent condition even after double the normal drain period.

Storage

All packages should be stored under cover. Where outside storage is unavoidable drums should be laid horizontally to avoid the possible ingress of water and damage to drum markings. Products should not be stored above 60°C, exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.
