Description

Castrol Rustilo™ 636 is a low viscosity mineral oil based fluid containing advanced corrosion preventive additives, ideal

for use where solvent based products are unacceptable.

Application

Rustilo™ 636 is specifically designed for processing metal sheet and tube products, particularly used as a steel and

tube mill applied corrosion preventive.

It offers medium term corrosion protection to all grades of uncoated and coated steel coils and bundled tubes.

Due to the increasing demand for electrostatic spray applications with flat products, Rustilo 636 has been designed to

provide optimum atomisation which will lead to even coverage on the metal surface.

As well, Rustilo 636 has been formulated to minimise cusping from the nozzles of electrostatic spray oilers. This then

eliminates banding of the oil on the metal surface and again allows even coverage of the corrosion preventive on the

metal surface.

Whilst Rustilo 636 has excellent electrostatic spray characteristics it can also be applied using rollers, brushes or other

spraying systems.

The optimum temperature of application for Rustilo 636 will vary depending on the ambient temperature of mill.

However as a guide, a temperature of 40-50°C at the exit point of the electrostatic spray nozzles will be suitable.

Advantages

Free of solvent to provide a safer working environment , i.e. reduces fire risk and VOC emissions

Heavy metals free, (example Barium) which may help you to fulfil aspects of legislative requirements and waste

treatment requirements that specify that these chemicals are excluded

Forms even film which provides reliable protection for moderate conditions

Low viscosity reduces dragout rate, hence reduces product consumption

Easy to apply by complete immersion, brushing or spraying

Approved for use by electrostatic spray manufacturers:

GFG Peabody Electrostatic Spray Approval - suitable for all applications.

If required protective films of Rustilo 636 can be removed by using a petroleum solvent or alkaline process

cleaner, all available from Castrol.
