Description
Castrol Aero ™ 35 is a MIL-PRF-6083F compliant hydraulic fluid
on a mineral basis with the addition of antiwear additives, corrosion and oxidation inhibitors,
shear stable viscosity modifiers; and approved extreme pressure additives. Specially
designed to reduce the effect of stick-slip. Produced in two versions: red
in accordance with the requirements of Douglas Aircraft DPM 6177 and unpainted (straw yellow) in
according to the Boeing Spec BMS 3-32B, Type I.
Application
The Aero 35 is designed for use in aircraft landing gear shock mounts. Compatible with
fluids approved according to MIL-PRF-5606H and MIL-PRF-6083F. Not fully compatible with
synthetic oils for gas turbine engines, as well as hydraulic fluids based on
phosphoric acid esters. Compatible with other petroleum-based and oil-based lubricants
synthesized hydrocarbons, however, mixing is recommended to be avoided in order to preserve the unique
properties of Aero 35. Compatible with seals, hoses and paints, usually
used in landing gear and fueling equipment. Compatibility information is
reference and requires confirmation in each specific case.
Specifications
Aero 35 Red is designed according to Douglas Aircraft DPS 3.334 specification, identifiable
under the number DPM 6177.
Aero 35 Yellow meets Boeing Specification BMS 3-32B, Type I according to service
Boeing Service Letters 707-SL-12-2; 727-SL-12-2; 737-SL-12-2 and 757-SL-27-15-B. These documents
prescribes the addition of extreme pressure additives to hydraulic fluids for shock absorbers
aircraft.
