Explanation
Castrol Braycote 631A is a smooth, buttery, translucent white NLGI #2 lubricant based on perfluoroether oil.
This oil is fireproof and chemically inert in general. It is thermally stable both singly and singly.
the presence of oxygen has extremely low volatility and no tendency to form sediment. Castrol Fluoroclean ™
X100 and Castrol Fluoroclean ™ HE can be used to remove this lubricant. See the data sheets for more information
regarding these products.
Application
Braycote 631A is used as Gears, ball and roller bearings, electrical contacts and thread and elastomer
oil. Especially useful as a lubricant and as a plug valve in corrosive or oxygen (LOX/Gox) service
oil. This product is compatible with concentrated acids and bases and does not hydrolyze or oxidize.
Perfluorinated greases such as Braycote 631A exhibit excellent shelf life due to their inertness.
Additional Information
Temperature Range
- From 30ºc to 204ºc (from 22ºF to 400ºf).
Limitations
Braycote 631A is insoluble or at least slightly soluble in fuels and oxidizers available in propellant service.
most organic solvents and materials except fluorinated solvents. Compatible with all commonly used devices
metals, plastics and elastomers. This product may be adversely affected by Lewis acids such as aluminum
chloride, at high temperatures. Scrub surfaces of aluminum, magnesium or titanium under certain conditions
conditions can cause thermal degradation of the lubricant. Such systems should be thoroughly evaluated.
Surfaces must be well cleaned from organic rust inhibitors before applying grease to ensure proper lubrication.
This product is not recommended for use in vacuum applications with loads exceeding 100,000 Psi.
