Castrol Alphasyn EP 220
Synthetic gear oils
Definition
High quality synthetic oil Castrol AlphasynTM EP gear oil range based on Polyalphaolefin
(PAO) fluids and sulfur / phosphorus Extreme pressure (EP) additive technology
good thermal stability and high load carrying capacity.
Application
Alphasyn EP is formulated for all types of use with closed gear such as range heavy
and shock loaded gears and bearings require EP specifications.
They are suitable for use in gearboxes where micro-pit resistance is required and for a wide range of
in extreme environments, e.g. mining and quarrying, marine applications and applications
paper production.
Using a PAO base stock naturally provides a high Viscosity Index (VI) and low pour points
making these products suitable for use in a wide temperature range.
Alphasyn EP series is compatible with nitrile, silicone and fluropolymer sealing materials.
Alphasyn EP is classified as follows:
DIN Classification CLP
Alphasyn EP series meets the requirements:
• DIN 51517 Part 3
AGMA 9005 - D94
US Steel 224
• David Brown Type E
• Hansen Transmissions
Flender
Lohmann & Stofferfoht
Advantages
Full EP performance * provides maximum protection of the gear against abrasion and shock loads
including protection against micro-tingling.
Good thermal and oxidation stability ensures reliable operation and longer service life
compared to mineral oil-based products.
Gears • High corrosion protection.
• Inherently high Viscosity Index (VI) makes the product suitable for a very wide range of operations.
temperature range.
Fast air release and Flender Foam Test good performance foam and barriers
damage to bearings.
With good water separation and demulsification properties means time is reduced down
extended oil life and increased equipment reliability.
• A PAO-based lubricant provides good compatibility with seals, paint and mineral-based oil
oils.
Under A16.6./90 achieved FZG rating of> 14 * ISO 320 degrees (double speed) test conditions
