Description
Castrol Optitemp™ 9890 (previously called Molub-Alloy 9890-2) is a premium synthetic lubricant which is especially
recommended for the lubrication of plastic parts where minimum applications of lubricants is required.
Optitemp 9890 is a special purpose grease formulated from an advanced synthetic fluid and a thermally stable, nonsoap base thickener. A blend of additives and lubricating solids ensure wear protection, therefore enabling long life of
components.
Application
Optitemp 9890 is especially suited to the lubrication of thermoplasts and duroplasts.
It may be used in continuous service from –45°C to 100°C (-49 °F to 212 °F) and can be exposed to temperatures up to
120 °C (248 °F) intermittently.
Advantages
Excellent lubricating properties for the lubrication of plastic parts and components
Thermal and chemical stability
Resistant to most solvents, including chlorinated hydrocarbons, strong acids, alkalis and oxidizing agents e.g.
natural gas, Benzene, Petroleum Ether, Benzol, Toluol, Cyclohexane, Dioxan, Tetrahydro-furane, Ethylene
Acetate, Acetone, Chlorobenzene, Tetrachlormethane, Trichlorethylene, Halogens, Potassium Hydroxide,
Hydrochloric, phosphoric sulphuric and nitric acids (*)
Compatible with most sealing materials, including: NBR, EPDM, NR, MWQ, PVMQ, PUR, PTFE (*)
The following plastics are compatible with Optitemp 9890: PVC, PS, PC, PMMA, PET, PE, PP,PA (*)
Wide temperature application range
Minimum consumption promotes economical use
Additional Information
Due to the excellent resistance to ordinary cleaners and solvents, clean-up may require use of special solvents (e.g.
highly fluorated solvents).
Where lubricants may come into contact with products (e.g. food, textile), good effective sealing and handling procedures
should be maintained.
